OFFICE ESSENTIALS FOR COMFORT
A Monitor Stand…
At the top of my list of home office essentials is something which a surprising amount of people do not have or haven’t even considered… A screen raiser or monitor stand!
It is SO important to ensure your screen is at eye level, at a ergonomically comfortable viewing angle, this is where a great monitor stand or screen raiser comes in. Having your screen at eye level relieves the strain and pain of the neck, shoulders and back by improving your sitting position, posture AND it reduces neck wrinkles (which is always a bonus!).
Amada Bamboo Monitor Stand with Smartphone Holder & Pen Notches for Home Office Computer or Laptop £15.99

This ergonomic Bamboo monitor riser stand can be used with computer monitors, laptops, printers or even a projector. With slots to hold your phone, pens, notebooks, drinks and any other random bits you need this will keep your desk tidy PLUS having a riser means you can slide your notebooks and loose papers underneath for easy access without being in the way. It is a fantastic space saver and all while looking, great made of premium bamboo material so you know it’d be durable and strong.

and Mouse Storage Desk Organizer
This option is a bit more snazzy, with 4 USB ports to charge your devices and a sleek, simple design. A great way to keep your desk more organised and stay a bit more high tech!
A Footrest…
This had to be near the top of my list home office essentials! A great footrest helps you maintain healthy posture and supports your feet when your working long hours at a desk. Raising and/or rocking your feet helps you deal with back fatigue, leg and foot aches, reduces pressure on joints and helps deal with varicose veins. Plus, the rocking movement is not only good for comfort but also helps with blood circulation!
Guiffly Footrest Under Desk, High Density Sponge Ergonomic Foot Rest Cushion, Foot Pillow for Improved Posture and Stress Relief £19.99

The foam cushion provides support and comfort while also being lightweight. Serious under desk comfort!

UNDER . DESK . HAMMOCK !
I am obsessed with this if I am being honest, I have this myself and I have never known comfort like it. Easily adjustable, made from a lightweight, breathable fabric and even has a headphones holder. Plus.. just feels so good to have your feet up in a hammock. Next level under desk comfort right here.

Greenery…
I can not stress this one enough, if you do not currently have plants in your home, GO GET SOME! There are so many reasons that greenery are office essentials, numerous scientific studies have actually proven the positives of having more greenery in your workspace. Simply adding some greenery in the form of indoor plants can have major positive benefits including reducing stress, cleaning the air and helping reduce noise levels. Greenery in a work space has even been shown to increase productivity and creativity!
I would recommend looking up local flower shops / stands to you, there are tonnes of independent businesses you can get fresh flowers from every day in most areas. However if its something a bit easier to look after your looking for, I have just the options for you!
Etsy – Snake Plant ‘Sansevieria Mikado’ rooted cutting, low light plant | live houseplants | air purifying plants £4.40

This is easily one of the most popular indoor plants as well as office plants. And that is no surprise because the Sansevieria is an easy care, low light (tolerating) house plant and has great air purifying qualities!
And while I understand that some folks may not have greenery on their home office essentials list, the snake plant is perfect for a beginning plant lady/plant man! What I also love about these are their size! They would fit perfectly ANYWHERE, on your desk, on shelves, cabinets.. I personally have a couple dotted about my office.
Etsy – String of Hearts, Rosary Vine, Trailing Succulent, Live House Plant £6.20+
This is not such a beginner option.. the seller sends you a cutting for you to plant in your own pot! I love this option personally because I had a pot in mind when I ordered. PLUS it made the price so much more budget friendly! The seller provides instructions and this succulent grows into such a beautiful plant, I personally have mine on a high shelf so the leaves have plenty of space to fall.
A Back Support…
I swear by this back support!!! This was the first item I thought of when I decided to do my list of office essentials.
You can pop it on most chairs or even in your car but where it really comes in handy are those long days sat at the desk working hard! With massage granules and a design that fits to the contour waist, this improves your sitting posture, while being super comfortable and reduce back pains and fatigue.

I am going to take a short break from our list to bring you my
Top 3 tips for working from home…
- Get up and move before you start work!
It is all too easy to just roll out of bed, turn your laptop on and get going however this is not a ideal start to a productive day! Wake up at the same time you would if you were going to the office and move, whether that be a walk, a run, go for a cycle or even just do some stretches. I guarantee you’ll start your work day feeling much more prepared. - Get dressed!
Don’t get me wrong, I have been working from home since March and most of those days I have lived in pyjamas or activewear HOWEVER when I get up each morning I make a effort to get dressed and brush my hair at a minimum before I start my day, and I cannot recommend enough that you do the same! - When your shift finishes.. YOU DO TOO!
It is all to easy for the line between home and work to get blurry when we work from home. But it is so important that when you finish work you leave your work space and try your best not to jump back on the laptop later. Don’t get into a habit of working outside work hours otherwise you’ll find the line between home and work really start to blur!

11 Top Home Office Essentials ….

I love love love this post. Everything is so useful and relevant to working at home. So many great ideas for those who love to stay organized. I currently work in an office away from home, but when I finally set up a fully functioning home office, I will be adopting some of these. And the under desk hammock and footrest are just the best!
I am so glad to hear you enjoyed it! I honestly don’t think I can even go back to working in a office unless I take my foot rest and henry hoover in with me haha! You have to let me know if you do try any. I love your site by the way, just reading your Money: Save It piece. I am not good at saving so this is super helpful!
Love love love the ideas. Especially the hammock? Thanks for sharing
Hi Rebekah, thanks so much so glad you like them. The foot rest hammock is actually the comfiest thing ever! Thanks for checking it out. Iv just checked out your site and I loveee it! Its stunning 🙂
I’ve never seen a hammock foot rest – it’s definitely unique but I would probably just be swinging back and forth all the time on it.
I love desk organizers – I have several which are sadly not really being used at the moment as I currently don’t have a desk. When I do, it’ll be their time to shine.
Haha it is so unique and so so comfy! You dont even find your swinging too much, its very secure. My legs feel so comfy but sometimes maybe toooo comfortable haha.
I have so many desk organizers… always buy them with the best intention but then I find a new one and I have to have it. I’m a stationary hoarder! Yess definitely, thats something to look forward to! LOVE your site btw!
Really like the marble desk organizer!! Recently added a fake plant to my desk and it has sprused the whole room so plants are good idea.
Isnt it beautiful.. I have it on my desk and I have the elephant on my bedside table because I just couldn’t decide! Iv also added few new cacti to my office space and I agree, it makes all the difference. LOVE your site btw.
I have never heard of an under the desk foot rest or hammock, but they would both be excellent in a home office. Thank you for sharing.
Really unique ideas! Love the foot hammock, and I definitely need to get more plants.
Yes same, I have a couple of fake cactus but when I was researching for this piece I realised JUST how important greenery is! So my first proper plants have been ordered haha. And I can speak from experience, the foot hammock is very comfortable.
wow! love these recommendations.
particularly love the greenery suggestion.
surely improves the mood.
thanks for sharing.
Working at home, we need to make sure that our backs are well supported and our legs too. Height of the desk and arm rest also needs to be checked and adjusted. I love the desk hoover!
Yes completely agree, I am quite lucky the company I work for have a online assessment we had to do to ensure we were ok and comfortable. The desk hoover is cute and so functional haha
Love the desk vacuum, it looks so cute ahah. Desk planners are the best, it’s always useful to stay organized! Thanks for sharing all your ideas 🙂
I love stationary and planners too! Thanks so much for checking it out 🙂
I just bought the Stabilo pastel highlighters and I’m obsessed with them. Love you working from home tips too. I always find I’m so much more productive when I work out before I get on my laptop.
I really need to start working out in the morning! I will eventually … ahah!
Ohhh, I definitely love the whiteboard x corkboard! 💕 I love posting stuff. Haha I just bought a new study desk in my apartment and I’m thinking of buying indoor plants and some organizers too. Thanks for this list! 😊
So good arnt they!! All these little things make such a difference
I love all these. I need to get myself a back support. Sometimes I hurt my back while writing. Huhuhu…….
Im the same, my back starts aching like hell!! the support has really helped, and the foot rest!
Awesome ideas! I love the wooden monitor stand! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I would love the foot rest and organization items. Having these things would help me to be more relaxed and ready.

the desk vacuum is the cutest thing!!! Also I can relate too much to my brain having too many tabs open hahaha every morning I have to do a brain dump and write down everything I have running through my mind so I can get organized for the day
Oo, never thought about getting a footrest but now I need one! Having a little thing of succulents, if possible, always adds some life to a room. 🙂
I love colorful organizers and having any number of notebooks on hand to jot down ideas and thoughts as they come to me. Highlighters are also a must.
Thanks so much for sharing!
i am obsessed with stationary!! loveeee it. And the footrest has really REALLY helped with my back ache
That little desk vacuum is amazing and I need it in my life! And everyone needs a desk organizer, it can bring me so much peace to have everything ready to grab!
Oh, I really needed this post. I’m currently creating a little home office and this is so helpful with things I hadn’t even thought about, like a foot rest
This was such a great blog! I’ve been working remotely for over a year and you have listed some items that I never even thought of getting, but I will now 🙂 I especially love the work/life balance journal. That seems to be my daily struggle as of late. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve bought so many bits over the last few months! But never even thought of a footrest and those hammock ones look genius! Might have to look into those… Loved this post, thanks for sharing!

Hi Rachael,
Great Post, all the items are essential for those long days. Thanks for sharing
These are some really great items! Getting some back support will definitely be a priority if I end up working from home! I love weekly planner pads but I prefer to do all my planning in my Bullet Journal- although weekly pads are fantastic for keeping the whole house organised! Thanks for sharing!
I was going to say the foot hammock is awesome. That was until I saw Henry. How could you not smile if your desk had it’s very own Henry. Great post, I know you’re selling but it doesn’t look salesy/spammy.
The little Henry hoover is sooo cute. I’ll have a look at buying one
You’ve included so many great suggestions. I don’t work from home but I’d love to use some of these ideas for when it comes to working on my blog. I love the bamboo monitor stand and how it has a space for everything.
I never thought about a monitor stand! I just invested in a portable table as I mostly work from my room and don’t have space for a desk, but these products all look great! Give me all the stationery and I am fine, put some plants and that’s my perfect office! Thanks for sharing x
I really should invest in a footrest for under my desk. They do make sitting at a desk a lot more comfortable. I still need to buy a notice/pin board for my office too. I think I’ll be working from home for the foreseeable, so I’m excited to shop for new accessories for my office x
I’ve been considering getting a footrest for under my desk, but now that I saw the desk hammock I am definitely going to get one! I also loved the little desk vacuum, super cute!
These are such good ideas! I love the marble desk organiser and the white board/cork board!
Thank you so much! I really love the cork board and whiteboard, i have it in my home office 🙂
People often overlook the importance of a footstool, but it really has made a world of difference for me! I have worked from home for almost 5 years now. While my standing desk, ergonomic chair, etc. have obviously made a difference, I can’t discount the footstool I purchased from IKEA!
I haven’t commented, not because you didn’t offer some GREAT options, but the options we’ve been using are different…. that’s why it’s so important to try everything individually!
Some great working from home essentials! By biggest essential is an organiser and pin board I’d be lost without them both!

I love that Elephant pencil holder/phone stand! There are some really cool ideas in here to help improve the experience of those who work from home!
I need the monitor stand & foot rest in my life! such great essentials
What an amazing list of essentials! For me greenery is so important! It really brightens up my day

That Hoover desk thing is the cutest 😍 and what a great list in general. Plants and a desk stand make so much of a difference, it’s insane! I don’t have a foot rest or great back support though, so I might invest in that soon 🤔
Thanks for these! Totally agree with the ‘Get up and move’ tip for working at home. I notice the difference if I make the effort to do this and sleep so much better.
I love the foot hammock; I might add this to my buy list for the future, quirky things always get me smiling, plus it’s useful too. I surround myself with plants. I’m sure they help my brain with the oxygen they produce being in such close proximity.
Some really amazing ideas! I especially like the leg hammock and the desk tidy.
I had no idea such fancy monitor stands existed! It may be time for an upgrade as I improve my tiny home office. Thank you for sharing these!
