Can you remember the gifts you received last Christmas?
How about your birthday last year?
Unless you received something really special or life changing not many people can actually remember gifts received a year or more ago…
Whether you are a pro gifter or a gifting novice, we could all do with gifting a bit BETTER.
What do I mean by gifting better?
Well… In this gift guide I am going to show you ways to give more thoughtful, meaningful gifts. Tips, tricks and alternatives you may not have considered before.
Whether you’re stuck on something to get for someone you care about and nothing seems quite special or personal enough, someone who seems to already have everything, or even stuck on a gift to give to someone you don’t know all that well. Here is something for everyone!
So have a look and find your inspiration
Experiences
When you gift a experience, you also gift memories. You can choose from literally hundreds of choices including adventures like jumping out of a plane, trips or getaways, or smaller experiences such as wine and cheese tasting at a local restaurant. There really is a experience for EVERYONE.
The other fantastic part of most experiences is that the person receiving the gift can choose the date and time that’s perfect for them and depending on the experience, in some cases they can even choose a location!
Not sure what the person you are gifting might enjoy?
No bother, there are a few different companies which offer gift vouchers or special occasion boxes. You can choose a amount and then the person you gift can choose which experience they would like to do. This means your gifting something special, personal but also completely flexible.
Journals & Self Care
I actually use this journal myself, I was lucky enough to be gifted this by my lovely mum for my birthday and it was, and still is such a beautiful gift. Much more than a traditional journal, this guides you with advice, questions, and prompts to keep you writing and thinking positively.
The slow and steady approach to create long-lasting change offers wisdom and a structure so you can uncover personal insights about who you are, and what you need in your life to be happy. Split into two clearly defined sections, the first part is a series of chapters explaining the power of positive habits, and science-backed happiness techniques such as gratitude, mindfulness, meditation, contribution, exercise, nutrition, affirmation, goal setting, laughter (and more).
Part two is the Journal: Each page includes a list of short questions and prompts based on the tools outlined in part one. I cannot recommend this journal enough as a gift (for yourself or someone else!)

Self care isn’t just for grown ups anymore, over at Big Life Journal they have created mindset journals for kids of all ages and wow are they amazing. They are fun, unique and special, a fantastic gift for children.
I could share hundred of self care, growth and creativity journals…
But I will have to stick to a few faves! There really is a journal for everyone.. it’s a thoughtful personal gift that’s easy to give to anyone you care about.
A few other top websites for journals are…
– WH SMITHS
– PAPERCHASE
– PAPIER
– ETSY
– BEST SELF
Self care is such a specific thing for each person… for some it’s exercising, others it’s getting creative and everything in between. Here’s some fantastic inspiration for thoughtful gifts which are perfect for ‘me time’ …

Jewellery
Jewellery doesn’t have to be expensive, made of precious metals or have diamonds and gems to be special. Thoughtful, meaningful gifting means giving a gift that evokes emotions and memories.

Giving to give back
- A donation to charity in a loved ones name
Giving gifts because they are meaningful is what it’s all really about, wouldn’t you rather have a really meaningful, thoughtful gift than a lot of gifts which you won’t remember receiving next year?
Other things to remember when gifting…
– Support small businesses! When your buying from a small business you are putting food on a family’s table, paying for a child’s dance lesson and supporting the local community. A close friend of mine who owns a small business said that when she gets a order she does a little dance and if that doesn’t warm your heart, I don’t know what will!
– Don’t overbuy, mass consumption is killing the planet. To put it plainly, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! You can spoil someone and show you care without buying 100 presents.
– Regifting is OK! As long as the item is in perfect condition and you are sure that you aren’t giving it back to whoever gave it to you… because that would be AWKWARD and very rude.

I loved this post! Usually, when it comes to presents, I always try to gift experiences but this year is a little different – love the ideas of journals too xx

Love these ideas! I always create packages when it’s a physical product and I love getting experiences, especially from my boyfriend. I remember those so much better!
I loved the idea of giving an experience and giving back to charity! Usually, for birthdays and Christmas, we buy tattoo vouchers between us sisters and it’s always appreciated, guess it’s kind of an experience. Also loved the Coco and Eve pumper bag, I didn’t know they did them! Thanks for sharing Rachael x
Love this ideas and suggestions . Truly excellent post. Love the idea of giving an experience ❤️

I genuinely love recieving jewellery as a gift! I’m also really keen on the Virgin experiences, I got one for my birthday and I can’t wait to be able to use it! X
Some great ideas here! Experience gifts are always brilliant. It’s a shame that we’ve not been able to do that over the last year though. I love a “giving back” gift. For the last couple of Christmases, I’ve asked my Mum to buy me an animal adoption from Born Free Foundation. I don’t want anything myself, so the money could go to a much better cause! xx
I gifted my sister a night away for Christmas, they’re my fave kind of gifts to give. I hope it all goes through with COVID!

Three of our four kids now understand the concept of meaningful gifts. It only took until their teens😆. So much better to give and receive with thoughtfulness!
I really like this idea. For christmas and my birthday, with my friends, we decided not to buy presents this year as we’d rather get to do something together like a virgin experience or go travelling when it’s safe and create memories.
I love this idea. I’m sure the recipient will love the unique idea too. I love receiving jewellery and spa pamper day vouchers. I also have bought my mum Afternoon Tea vouchers which have gone down a treat. Thank you for sharing x

These are such great gifts! I usually give mugs to my friends because 1) who doesn’t love mugs? And of course 2) you can nearly always find something that’s super personal for that individual. I love it!
True, the jewelry doesn’t have to be expensive. I gifted my best friends twice and it was good. The journal good idea though. Thank you for sharing!
This is a great post! Ever since I was a little girl (so many people would call me spoiled haha) I hated receiving gifts! People never cared what I really wanted and just got what was convenient for them and to this day, I basically scream to ask me first or a gift card haha. I just find it so wasteful if you know that other person isn’t going to like or use it. I’d rather someone ask me honestly and vice versa. Experiences are my fav gifts! Thanks for sharing x

I love these suggestions – especially the journal & experiences. thanks for sharing these!!
Love this! Experiences are my favorite thing to gift because they are memorable and fun. People will often discard gifts they receive, but memories from experiences are much longer lasting!
I love purchasing people experiences I can do with them. These are the gifts I usually give for mother’s day/father’s day to make a memory. I love those bracelets, may have to gift myself hahaha
I’m terrible at gift buying, so this is really handy!
Great thoughts! Sometimes I put little thought into gifts. Very inspiring!
Great ideas here! Love the idea of various types of journals, and really love the I Am jewelry. Love the concept of makig gifts something someone will remember and think about, thank you.
